The formula of Talking Heads and Danielson Family Troupe sounds like a no-brainer, but when you think about it, how many bands embody the aforementioned equation? Not a whole lot of them, but Deleted Scenes have created an album titled Birdseed Shirt that takes the most subtle acoustic song and create a surreal swirling effect with backing vocals, a tight horn section, and a commanding sense of written word. They will be making the round next week and look for them to be filling other parties, but as of right now, they have the two below.

Another Brooklyn band, another day. The breezy and dare I say hazy pop from Here We Go Magic s is probably best enjoyed on that hammock out back complimented with a Mint Julip. There is no denying that the lo-fi element added with the unidentifiable clanks and hand claps only add to the mystery behind the album. I swear that some of the percussion sounds could come from the use of bones, perhaps human ones? Good thing I will be able to report from Austin on there shennigans on stage. Make sure you catch them!

The title says it all. Two of my all time favorite bands converge on one cover for the upcoming Rachel McAdams movie, the Time Traveler’s Wife (based on the book). The guys do a wedding scene and play the Joy Division cover. (via Playlist)My wife says the book is about a time-traveler who travels back and forth in time in his own life. He met his wife when she was a child and you can gather the rest from there. For what it’s worth, she said she liked it, so I can only hope that the movie excedes the reader’s expectations.

Other Lives

You wouldn’t know listening to the forthcoming album from Oklahoma’s Other Lives that they were from the States, let alone based in Stillwater. Upon first listen, they have a British sound that made Travis and their other contemporaries ever so popular. The use of piano, cello, and delicate vocals make for some spine tingling moments (in a good way) and sets them aside from their British counterparts. The S/T album will be released April 7th and make sure you catch them at SXSW this year!!!
