I was surprised to find Maxim is still in circulation. I thought bros didn’t bother anymore. I was getting an oil change the other day and came across this amazing excerpt from Duff McKagan’s forthcoming book in this month’s MAXIM, “It’s So Easy: and other lies,” that will be released Oct 4 and available for pre-sale here. I’ve heard of some hard living, but DAMN. This guy had no regard for himself. At all. The snippet stuck with me on several fronts. I had no clue that Duff beer from “the Simpsons” was named after him after Axl Rose named him Duff “King of Beers” McKagan on stage. The rest was history. Duff was also one of the last people to have seen Kurt Cobain before he killed himself on a flight from LAX to SEA. The two were too sheepish to ask one another to hang out because of their hardcore star status. He’s not doing so bad, seeing that Duff got in on Starbucks, Amazon and Microsoft before they blew. Sounds like he’s set, but the brash details of the escapades are surreal.
