You can try to keep a band down with a litany of items, but not DIIV.

Zachary Cole Smith (lead vocalist) fought back from personal demons with substance abuse only to resuscitate like Lazarus to bring fans a third album from team DIIV with “Deceiver” scheduled for release October 4 via Captured Tracks.

Listen to the first single from “Deceiver” with the brooding offering “Taker.” Smith’s vocals are the perfect whaling to drony guitar ratio that feels familiar for those of us that remember a time when flannel shirts, torn jeans and Doc Martens felt like a uniform in certain circles.

Fans might notice a different “sound” on the third album. DIIV teamed up with producer Sonny Diperri (Protomartyr, Trent Reznor) in Los Angeles marking the first time an outside producer was used in the recording process for the Captured Tracks act.
