M83 is an international man of mystery, one moment he’s delivering pop magic, another moment, he’s composing digital landscapes and most recently a soundtrack for “Knife + Heart.”

More than a decade has passed since the release of the ambient sounds of the 2007 release, “Digital Shades Vol. 1.” Anthony Gonzalez loved the project so much in fact that there’s going to be a sequel: “DSVII” with a release date of September 20 via Mute Records.

There’s a new theme for the upcoming effort with one of mysticism deriving from a penchant of Dungeons and Dragons. Will and the boys from “Stranger Things” would be plum chuffed with Gonzalez with the inspiration. Here’s Anthony in his words about “DSVII” :

“At first there was this vivid memory of Dungeons and Dragons, this childhood sensation of living in an imaginary world set in a faraway past or a lost future…solitary knights, dreamy landscapes, strange animals, forgotten myths and old spells…”
