Ten years have passed since the end of Silver Jews, but the wait is over with the birth of Purple Mountains.

David Berman finished off his longtime cerebral lo-fi act by dissolving his first love in favor of a new project that reflects on the last decade of life from one of the more reclusive artists in the music business.

On the new material, Berman appears as playful as ever in the “Darkness and Cold” video; so much in fact that the self-aware clip captures a relaxed DB playing with a Vince Young and Barbie doll playing kissy kiss.

The central theme of the video revolves around a stunningly beautiful spouse readying herself to cavort around the town while leaving behind her bearded partner.
