The National found out the hard way that October in Denver is a mixed bag. As fans discovered upon descending on the hallow ground nestled in the foothills of Morrison, a deep fog gripped Red Rocks creating the perfect element for a night with one of the most prolific live acts touring the world.

Of course attending or performing any outdoor event in drizzling near freezing temperatures isn’t ideal, but I’ll be gotdamned if it wasn’t the most fun I’ve ever had freezing my face off to hear The National with ten thousand fans to keep me warm.

Matt Berninger and the boys are on the tail end of the promotional circuit for the stunning album, “Sleep Well Beast” released in 2017. It wouldn’t be the National if they didn’t go out with a bang. Look for them this weekend in Austin for Austin City Limits and December 7 for the “Rally in the Valley” Planned Parenthood event out in Hudson, New York.
