Fancy production isn’t always the best way to execute musical glory.The Night Game sticks to the nuts and bolts. Just old fashioned vocals, guitar, keyboard, bass and drum kit. It doesn’t hurt that Australian Gotye lends backing vocals to the nostalgic sounding single, “The Outfield.” There’s a throwback vibe that kicks into overdrive towards the chorus. A familiarity is omnipresent reminiscent of what you would see in Michael J. Fox’s heyday in “The Secret of My Success.”

Look for the Massachusetts act to open up for John Mayer this summer in an arena near you.
