The National took the “drop obscure message” approach to what is presumably new music.Overnight, the Ohioan act emailed out an oddly piece of promotion overnight with links to their social media pages. Upon clicking on any of the social media sites, the link attached jumps to a video that appears to have been shot in a night vision lens with a ticker that familiarly looks like the CNBC mainstay that reads, “the system only dreams in total darkness.” Totally not weird.

As far as odd promotional gimmicks, the National upped the ante several levels. Not much else is known, but Matt Berninger appears to have taken a break from poppy duo, El Vy to give the National some much needed attention. After all, it’s only been four years since “Trouble Will Find Me.”
