Things escalated quickly for the National, eh?Earlier this week, an odd short clip surfaced sending many speculating that a new National album not only was imminent, but the news would be released this week.

Fans got their wish. The name of the first National album in four years is “Sleep Well Beast.” The follow up to “Trouble Will Find Me” was co-produced by Bryce Dessner and lead vocalist, Matt Berninger. The guys recorded “Sleep Well Beast” at Aaron Dessner’s Hudson Valley, New York studio, Long Pond, and additional studio time in Berlin, Paris & Los Angeles. Listen to the first bit from the seventh National album to be released via 4AD on September 8th with the single, “The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness.”
