Chris Stapleton::: Red Rocks ::: 05.24.17

Chris Stapleton brought his best cowboy hat (Stetson, presumably) and boots before a massively sold out Red Rocks crowd. In my times of covering the legendary venue had I ever witnessed such a scene. The proud Kentuckian is pushing his latest album, ” From A Room: Volume 1,” to which landed #2 on the Billboard Charts and #1 on the Billboard Country chart. The bearded troubadour goes a little deeper than the “renegade” stigma tied to his music. There’s no level of pretension to his twang. It’s salt of the earth country ballads that doesn’t fiddle with the over produced product being churned out of Nashville. The sincere level of earnestness in last night’s show is par for course with Stapleton’s stellar repertoire. They don’t make them like the use to, but here’s a salute to the long haired desperado proving that you don’t have to have a sexy tractor to make good tunes.
