Whenever anybody’s getting ready, they might listen to something that sets the mood for the evening.One of my rituals when I would get read to go out when I was in high school was to listen to Depeche Mode’s “101” album. The energy from the Rose Bowl in that live album and the bravado from Dave Gahan was unrivaled. Bat for Lashes covered one of my favorite tracks off of that live album (yes I know it’s from “Music for the Masses,” but I prefer the live version better), “Strangelove.” Natasha Khan’s vocals turn any song into a hypnotic love spell, and this Depeche Mode cover is no different.
