The high school graduation rate in Denver County is 53%.When I was growing up, graduating from high school wasn’t really an option. According to that stat (found here) almost half of the kids in school don’t finish their high school studies here in town.
That’s a scary statistic because that problem won’t take care of
itself. That’s where Get
Schooled! comes into play. They’re a non-profit that raises
awareness to the education crisis facing our great nation by assisting
in high school graduation, college readiness, and partnering with
initiatives to make these objectives obtainable for today’s youth. This
Friday, November 19th, Get Schooled! will hold a rally at a school in
the Denver area to treat students to a pep talk about their future and a musical performance. Past performances have included Ciara, Ludacris, Big Boi, Keri Hilson and Common among others. Things are very hush hush about the special guests, but I do know the talent will include two of Get Schooled!’s partners and one VERY well known local hero.
