Bartender, I’ll Have a Pint of Wilco

Wilco :: Outside Lands Festival Day 3 :: 2008

There’s a good chance you haven’t heard of Lagunitas Brewery from Petaluma, California. Consider yourselves introduced. Lagunitas is brewing a Wilco inspired brew that’s described as “rich, smooth, dangerous & chocolatey” by Brewsday.  So the next time you’re at your specialty liquor store, ask them for Wilco Tango Foxtrot. Thanks to my friend Theo for the heads up on this one!

  1. Best when brand new or only a few minutes old. Taste starts out strong with the interesting and outstanding hops accentuating the strong robust rootsy body. Just as the flavor peaks, the hoppiness is drastically forced away and the favor almost immediately declines to a dull mild-bodied nearly forgettable pap with ridiculous apple overtones that is somehow, and inexplicably, much more palatable to the masses who seem to get off on the 13 minute aftertaste that extends every sip.

    I also hear that if you drop a 6-pack of empties down a flight of spiral stairs, Nonesuch gives you an advance and a residency at the Black Orchid.

    Wilco Brew…I’ll take an original 4-pack over the late-great 6 pack.
