Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if I actually knew how to play an instrument.Would I try to start a rock band? Would it be more prog, or just garage? This contest is to spread the word for those of you that love converse or you kids that can actually play an instrument, or perhaps interested spreading the word about your band (s). Converse and Journeys have teamed up to hookup some lucky winners with some studio time, some shoes, or both. Win a trip to Austin, TX in March to perform with the Flying Machines
at one of the largest music festivals in the United States!
Converse and Journeys have teamed up to bring you the second annual “Get Out of the Garage” music contest – a contest for up-and-coming bands that does just what it says.
Last year, contest winner Flying Machines, won a trip to NYC for a studio session at Sear Sound with GRAMMY award winning producer Mickey Petralia (Beck, Peaches, Saul Williams). Since then, Flying Machines have signed with EMI and in March will be playing for thousands of fans in Austin, TX – and your band could be performing there as well!
For this year’s Get Out of the Garage contest, two Grand Prize winners will win the prize of a free trip to perform with Flying Machines in Austin, TX at one of the largest music festivals in the United States. There are two rounds of judging. In the first round, fans will have the opportunity to vote online for the top 10 finalists in two categories – Rock and Urban. In round two, Converse and Journeys will choose the top 5 from each category and announce one grand prize winner from each genre. The remaining 8 finalists will receive a pair of Converse shoes, a gift certificate from Converse, and a gift certificate from Guitar Center.
The contest starts NOW and we encourage bands from ALL musical genres and styles to enter!
