The 2009 Denver UMS

The Denver UMS has been spread out over four days this year and has concentrated on fewer venues to maximize the concert viewing experience. In what promises to be a four day blowout, the UMS has decided to bring an external flavor to the Showcase by bringing in talent from outside the state of Colorado.

THE UNDERGROUND MUSIC SHOWCASE CELEBRATES ITS 9th YEAR BY INCLUDING THE BEST LOCAL AND NATIONAL TALENT TO ITS LINEUP – INDIE BUZZ BANDS AND UP-AND-COMERS ALIKE

More Than 200 Bands Are Set To Take the Stage in Denver July 23rd thru July 26th

DENVER – June 5, 2009 – The Underground Music Showcase – now known simply as The UMS – is excited to welcome over 200 local and national bands, singer-songwriters, and comedians to 20 of Denver’s best local venues when The UMS takes over a half mile stretch of South Broadway from July 23rd to July 26th. The UMS, which has grown to be the largest indie music festival in Colorado, yearns to become the foremost festival of independent music in the Western United States – focusing on both national and local independent artists in its ninth year. It has been referred to as “the South By Southwest of Denver”, by Heather Browne, editor of the popular music blog, I Am Fuel, You Are Friends.

Some of the national buzz bands already booked for this year’s festival include Bowerbirds (Raleigh, N.C.), KaiserCartel (Brooklyn, NY), El Ten Eleven (Los Angeles, CA), the Smug Brothers (Dayton, Ohio), Big Time (Cambridge, MA), Seneca (Limerick, Ireland), Wardens (Los Angeles, CA), Megafaun (Durham, N.C.), the Caribbean (Washington, D.C.), Mark Mallman (Minneapolis, MN), Band of Annuals (Salt Lake City, UT), the Slants (Portland, OR), Melissa Fuller (Nashville, TN), Red Light Driver (Indianapolis, IN), 1090 Club (Billings, MT), Undersea Explosion (Brooklyn, NY) and many others.

The four day event will feature food, beverage and retail vendors on-site, offering product samplings, giveaways and other promotions all weekend long. Four day passes for the event will be available, from 9 a.m. Friday, June 5th to midnight on June 7th, for just $10 at www.theums.com. Take advantage of this great offer because regular priced passes ($20 per four day pass) will go on sale on June 8th, 2009.

  1. I caught a few minutes of KaiserCartel at Monolith last year and they were the coolest thing I saw that weekend, SWEET that they are gonna be here for this!

  2. Thanks for the love, Julio! Just fyi, it’s actually four days, not three (July 23-26 includes July 23, 24, 25 and 26). Thanks!
