They’re not exactly invisible. There’s too many of them on stage for that, however, Venezuelan eclectic group, Los Amigos Invisibles, will be releasing their new album, Commercial (June 9th via Nacional Records). Their new record boasts guest appearances by Mexican artist Natalia Lafourcade , beat slinger Dimitri from Paris, Senor Coconut vocalist Argenis Brito, and Cachorro López (Belanova, Miranda). I had the good fortune of catching them at ACL several years ago and was captivated by the hybrid of jazz, funk, disco, rock, and bossanova. Their music’s ability to transcend language barriers and move hips is worldwide, just ask David Byrne (he discovered them and signed them to his label in 1995). The name of their album is part of the group’s attempt at appealing at a more diverse audience visa vie eclectic album and non-stop touring.
