The New Pornographer’s A.C. Newman will be releasing another solo effort the 20th of this month via Matador. Instant thoughts (and they were confirmed upon listening to his solo albums) that A.C. Newman solo > A.C. Newman w/New Pornographers. I’m just throwing that out there and please feel free to disagree, but the songwriting is better and you can use Neko Case as your only defense, but that’s it! My mind is made up! I got a promo copy of this about a month ago and I totally agree. This album is way better than a New Pornographers album. I would even argue that backup vocalist on the album Nicole Atkins is better than Neko Case (shock!). But seriously this album is killer (too early to name a best of 2009????). And to top it off, it also features Mates of State! What more could you want?
