Queens of the Stone Age are “Villains”

Spoiler alert: Queens of the Stone Age have found inspiration in “Villains.” Josh Homme and his crew of misfits took the route of bad guys with the name of their forthcoming Queens of the Stone Age album, “Villains.” If the NFL ever had a band representing each respective team, there’s no doubt that the ominous guitar wielding musicians would represent the Oakland Raiders.

News of the seventh album via Matador Records has no release date at this time, but watch the deadpan video of QOTSA below taking a failed polygraph whilst previewing new tune, “Feet Don’t Fail Me.” According to the video, the album boasts a collaboration with famed producer, Mark Ronson (Bruno Mars/Adele). Are the leather clad “Villains” mining for FM gold?

It only took four years for the guys to resurface with a new album in tow. In 2013, the brooding rockers delivered one of the best albums in “…Like Clockwork,” that used artwork from talented UK artist, Boneface.

On a seperate Josh Homme note, Foo Fighters lead man, Dave Grohl, hinted at a possible Them Crooked Vultures project. The supergroup of sorts consists of Homme, Grohl and Led Zepellin bassist, John Paul Jones. The trio only released one self-titled album back in 2009 via Interscope Records to critical acclaim. We were fortunate to catch Them Crooked Vultures seven years ago when they played the Fillmore:

The musicianship is undeniable. John Paul Jones, Josh Homme, and Dave Grohl demonstrated that being a musician isn’t all business and people can do things just for the fun of it. The trio were all grins last night enjoying the fruits of the labor as they rocked the Fillmore stage in a way a raucous rock band should rock. John Paul Jones, multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, brought his infinite wisdom and experience as the final touch to what could be rock’s most glorious union. Dave Grohl did his best Keith Moon impression behind his drum set, going off on many solos, and rightfully so.
