In the latest issue of Spin, the family Followhill are featured on the cover and depicted as a bunch of hacks that learned their chops in the span of a couple of months and have matured with the release of every new album. The Pentecostal brethren ditched their producer Ethan Johns in favor of a sexier rockier sound well noted on their latest release, Only the Night. I liked that KOL was the South’s answer to the Strokes and IMHO their most recent effort is kind of a snoozer but the material did come alive in concert. The ladies were loving their fair share of Caleb, but I think secretly, they were crushing on Nathan. The guys aren’t crazy rockers anymore, but that’s a good thing because they can focus more on their performance and visibly fantastic wardrobe (I’m looking at you Caleb, with your Dior white boots).

The spirit award of the evening went to the Stills. The band has gone backwards since Logic Will Break Your Heart but has recently made a couple of steps forward with their most recent outing, Oceans Will Rise. The sparse crowd filled in the auditorium and the early attendees were treated to a pleasant surprise with the Canadians showing everybody why they are still relevant and why their latest offering could possibly be one of the most underrated albums of the year.

Ben Harper Campaign Stop

With all the campaigning going on with Camp Harper, you would think he was running for office but he’s stumping for Obama. Ben Harper and Zach Braff will be making a pit-stop in Boulder this Saturday according to the Daily Camera. Harper will perform at the rally, scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. at the Mary Rippon Theatre on the Boulder campus.

The event is free and open to the public.
